Rumors are just that.

From the way the equipment rules are, i could play with a .5oz cue with a 1mm tip...
BUT, i couldn't play with a 25.1oz cue with a 14.1mm tip...
That is just stupid.

Does anyone know why?

The Stinger was actually the poorer breaker of the cues...with the sledge being the best. It was not a scientific test in any way shape or form. We just had the opportunity to compare them all side by side. The Gilbert by the way is the best playing of the bunch. Can really get some english with the Gilbert. My buddy hass a GREAT break with the Sledge II, so much so I talked him into staying with his sledge and putting the Gilbert away for a bit. I personally think the Stinger just has too big of a tip on it to be a good break cue. You can smack em hard yes...but not much action as far as english and stopping the ball.

Does the Gilbert have a leather tip?
I tried the jumping portion of the Stinger and I think it is pretty awesome. I am a bit concerned about it not having any joint collar as a breaking cue.
Do you think there is a big improvement from the Sledgehammer to the Sledgehammer II?
Shorty said:At the time, the Gilbert had a phenolic tip on a regular ferrule when we did the tests. Turns out I took that off and put two talisman's on it. I sold it to my buddy after he begged me out of it. My buddy is going to now take one off and put a white diamond or phenolic on it and try it again. He is strange, he really has mastered that Sledge II's break style. He was pulling shape on the 1, and putting four balls on the head end of the table every single break with that Sledge II...he don't need no stinking Gilbert as I joke to him all the time.
As far as the Sledge I vs. the Sledge II, I think there is a big big improvement. The reason being the smaller tip allows you to actually put some stopping english on the cue ball for once. The sledge I came with a 13.5 tip size, where as the Sledge II is like a predator, 12.75. For jumping, I don't know...I would still lean towards a bigger tipped cue.
I am beginning to think you should use two cues, one for jumping and one for breaking. Just too different of requirements to try and combine the two things.
