When this product came out it was all the rage and hype.

What ever happen to this product? Is it still being made?
Who is using this product?

Thanks

Kevin

I use it. But I am still on my original bottle too. Oh and I only play about 2 hours of pool a week so I don't use much.

Oh and one other thing

FIRST!

Do a forum search.. he STILL owes me $32 and I never got the product. I did end up buying it from someone else, used it once, then never touched it again.. like so many other billiard toys, they end up in the drawer and never touched again. Piece of leather, skuffer, 2000 grit, and clean hands have withstood the test of time for me lol.

I still use mine from time to time. I'm not sure what happened to the guy who was making the stuff. He used to post on here quite a bit. I do remember him saying that he acquired a contract to use his product on the leather seats of a car manufacturer, so he might be busy with that. Who knows...

I have tried to contact Pete several times, and I haven't heard back from him. I'm not sure if he is still making the product or not, and FWIW, I was one of the people promoting it for him and I was always in contact with him up until about 15 months ago.

Don't order direct

Ripped me off too. I won't use it, no matter how good a product it is. Anybody that takes the money and disappears is no good.

If I remember right there was a claim made that the Dupont plant that was making slipstik for him burned down or exploded and when they restarted making the product he would ship it out.--Leonard

That guy completely dropped off the face of the planet. No idea what happened to him, but he and the company are clearly gone. He doesn't even own the Slipstic.com domain anymore. Hard to believe that someone in this industry would be all shady and then disappear... that never happens.

Yeah, I remember a claim that he was sick and would ship asap.. I never saw the product or the money, nor got any response to my (at the time) quite polite inquiries. We spoke on the phone once when he explained the sickness.. I told him at the time it was all good and to go ahead and ship.. a month later after attempts to contact him failed I filed with paypal and got $1.60 because that's all he had at the time. I've repeated this story probably 5 times over the last year to save others the grief I had, and to feel a little better about being ripped off.

A friend not repaying a $30 loan, no big deal.. leaving $30 in quarters on a table.. also no big deal.. heck, if you need it bad enough to steal it out of my pocket.. also something I'd let go of easily. But a respected businessman just completely ignoring me and the fact that he STOLE money from me, well it wouldn't matter if it were $5, I'd still be a little upset!

Wow, did I miss something? I don't recall ever seeing anything bad about Pete or his product before?

Bad mojo aside, I've been using Slip Stic for the last year and it does a good enough job. Haven't tried out many other products, but I can say that it does a nice enough job keeping the cue slick. There's no oily feel to it. I'll use what I have and maybe try something else, but I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Varney's bowling alley wax thing in an earlier thread seemed intriguing.

I ordered mine through an online retailer and didn't have any problems. I'm really sorry to hear about all the problems with ordering direct. :(

Wow... I'm pretty shocked too. I was in pretty close contact with Pete until we lost touch, and I had never heard of any problems with orders not being fulfilled.

It just doesn't sound like something Pete would do intentionally - and its kind of surprising to hear all of this now. I just know that I really loved the SlipStic product - I promoted it at several events for him - and Pete was always professional whenever we did business together.

I hope everybody gets what they ordered from him, or their money returned.

Does anyone here even know if he is still alive??? If not, that just might explain a few things.

The last time I spoke to Pete was in February of 2007. He wanted to send me some Simonis cloth for the pool room treated with one of his new products. I moved back to Florida in May of 2007, and I have tried to call him several times and my calls were never returned. I haven't heard anything from him. I have his number laying around here somewhere, I'll try again.

EDITED - last number I had for him is no longer in service.

That would explain a lot. When I spoke with him over the phone, it was he who called me to let me know there were delays. He said he would include some extras with the order to make it right. I was incredibly impressed with his customer service at the time, though I hadn't received anything yet. It's been a year now, I placed the order June 8th and haven't heard from him since that month.. Paypal decided in my favor after being unable to reach him up to July 2nd. No idea if anyone has heard from him since then.

I've known Pete for about 15 years and have always considered him to be honorable person and a devoted father. In business transactions he always did what was in the best interest of the customer. He was a regular at our poolhall in Rochester and all of us here wonder the same thing. Where did he go? There was a few comments about him following a job lead to the Pittsburg area. But that was last April or May and no reports since. I too hope he's OK.

I love my SlipStic and was the very first user of this product. Every drop is so precious to me now. I'm down to me last bottle. Damn.

Same here...
Enjoyed the product and down to the last few drops.
Now going to try the Butchers Bowling Alley Wax trick to see how that works (in the next few weeks).
