Slippery linen wrap

I just changed the linen wrap on my cue and the new wrap is so slippery it doesn?t feel right when I?m shooting with the cue. My old wrap was a little tacky and I could get nice feel when I played with the cue. Now, my cue doesn?t feel right since the new wrap is so slippery.

Can anyone recommend something I can put on my black linen wrap to give it a better feel and not be so slippery?

The bee wax does work nice.....but has a tendency to attract more dirt and chalk and garbage in general.
Just curious how or what you did to make it turn out so slippery?
Over press or double press perhaps? Black always seemed a little rough to start with more so than some of the other colors.
Maybe change out and just don't press as long and hard?

lol. i cant get my linen slippery enough. linen makes me nutts unless it is slippery. thats why i love the old cortland white w green.

any cue repair man can just clean the wrap and dont repress it or repress very little

I didn't press it too much intentionally because I didn't want it to turn out too slippery. When I was doing the final pass or two on the linen I used a creative inventions roller linen press and I used liquid starch to moisten the linen. I didn't press it too hard and it came out perfectly, very smooth and tight. I can't add bee's wax or candle wax because the linen is solid black and it will show anything on the linen. It looks great, but the feel isn't there and I guess i'll have to live with it until it breaks in and accumalates hand oil and chalk dust to get the natural pool cue feel. I was hoping someone had a short cut to get the good feel without waiting for it to break in.

creative inventions roller press + starch = answer to the questions.......
Ok to use the press with very light pressure but try it without the starch next time for a rougher feel.
Playing with the cue will help get it where you want to be.....with time.
