What is one of the most devistating things you can do to a player? You alter their natural Rythem. If you feel confortable playing fast and loose do so, but not at the expense of your game. Player of this nature, not much of a threat untill they get going, and when they get going, they keep going. where as a more methodical player will be steady and maybe not make as many balls, but also doesnt make as many mistakes. So I really dont see any advantage one way or the other. It's the extremes of these styles that cause a player problems. take to long you loose focus, to fast and you loose focus. So find your happy medium and stick with it.
For years I played and I didnt want to stroke more than once or twice, I was set ready to fire, the extra strokes just seemed to be wasted time. so I was methodical and fast. the more I stroked the worse I got. Now I stroke maybe 4-5 times on tough shots, 3-5 on everything else.
I consider fast and loose more of a throwing style, or a slower methodical player more of a shooting style. likely the throwing style will benifit the players who are naturaly talented, and the shooting style benifitting those who need to work hard to play well, or the not so gifted players. I happen to be not so talented and prefere a shooting style but not taking all day. So you may be able to just lunge and capture prey, I need to stalk it. the end result is the same, I just need to work at a lil more.
I do consider a pro to be a player really without a style, they incorporate all styles into thier game for any situation, but you can tell what style was thier originaly. Efren to me is cold and calculating with the flare of a expert swordsman. for example. So not only will you be cut, you will be cut deep indeed.
Just some food for thought, these are my opinions, and I could very well be very wrong, this is basicaly How I think as a player. so take it for what its worth...
