Slow players

I'm so new to the game (couple of years) that I enjoy watching it no matter what the speed. I like watching everything except ball bangin' yuppies out for drinks who don't know (or care) what the hell they're doing. This is especially true if there is a waiting list for tables and good locals are sitting at the bar waiting. But that's another issue :)

As far as speed, I like to watch it all. I like to look at still shots of table layouts, even, just to try to pick out patterns.

I probably play medium speed when I'm playing seriously and well. A few days ago I was playing 14.1 (new high run during a match: 24!) and I started slowing down during each run as it grew. I think that was just nervousness and focusing on how many I had dropped. My opponent beat me pretty badly, and it's in part because he didn't even keep count in his head and just went from shot to shot with consistent timing. We're about the same as shotmakers, and I see combos and such better than he does, and we were both having good days... so that leaves the mental thing as the main difference, I think.

What I'm trying to say is that I sharked the hell out of myself that evening with my speed.

As far as the rude stuff mentioned here, some folks need to learn some manners. There are lots of ways of teaching them, too... hehe

I hate playing really slow players. I don't mind if someone is taking the time to walk around the table and line up the shot and maybe get down on the shot twice but that's about it. I hate it when players do all of the above, finally get over the ball, stroke 20 or 30 times and then get back up and begin the process all over again. And the worst thing is when that is all done for a shot that is 2" from the pocket and the cb is 2" from the ob and shape is no issue!! I usually tell them that I'm only on this planet for so long and have too much to do to waste my time like this.
