I got my Slug-Doctor today and I must say that it is all that!!! It was very easy to set-up in fact it was to easy. In just a few moments I had the perfect rack of 9 balls. I want to Thank Abe, for the prompt delivery of 3 days and the great packaging (triple bubble wrap). The SLUG-DOCTOR is very portable not like my Sardo Tight Rack (which I love but is still not portable) and there are no moving parts so it will last forever. Thanks again Abe now its time to have some fun.

Just Wondering...

At my local pool hall we have a private action room with a 9' Diamond. We have a regular 9-ball and 10-ball ring game about three times a week. We spot balls very often, and I was wondering if the labels affect a 3 or 4 ball spot. I would greatly appreciate any info on this subject, as we have a few players that are jealous of breaking skills to say the least. A way to eliminate bad racks would be awesome. Thanks in advance...

Nope

After you mentioned it I had to go and check for myself because I had completely forgot about it. No the circles do not have any effect on it at all. I spotted 5 balls and other than where the very first ball sits the other balls miss the other circles all together. You can buy with confidence.

Spotting balls should not be an issue. Only the apex ball would be on the perforation and the rack is designed for the apex ball to be racked on the spot, so no issue with the first ball. The first ball is not actually on the dot anyway, but rather against the inside edge of the perforation. The 2nd and 3rd balls along the spot line straddle the middle ball perforation (if you even need this) and the 4th and 5th balls straddle the perforation for the last back ball of a 9 ball rack, so there are no issues with these either.

If you do not have a spot line drawn on the table the SD perforations may actually assist you in spotting balls accurately along the line.

I'll PM the maker so he can chime in on this. I'm sure he would like to provide you with the "official" answer.

Hope this helps.

dgraham1311- Hopefully, this picture below shows how the dot labels would not interfere with spotted balls.

DogsPlayingPool- Thank you for bringing this thread to my attention. :)

If anyone has any other questions, I would be more than happy to help.

Thanks everybody for the great feedback. I will definitely try to talk the room owner into switching to this new rack. Thanks again!

Just a quick FYI...

There have been a lot of requests for a 15-ball (8-ball) version. So I have come up with this: (An attachment for the existing 9/10B template)

It's not completely ready. Still testing it out. If interested in pre-ordering, send me a PM.
Stay tuned!

Best,
Abe - i4pool <----- Looking forward to the Swanee this weekend! :D

question?

could the 15-ball be used for one-pocket? I'm interested but i play 1pkt also and don't want the spots to interfear with balls. if you slow roll a ball over a spot how does it react?

I have used the Slug Doctor on several tables, my own included, and have put down all 15 dots. I've played one pocket games and never had an issue with the dots interfering with the roll of a ball. There was one shot that I stayed down on and I saw a ball roll off and I thought "ha, now I can finally tell Abe that the Slug Doctor has ruined my well known ability to play pin point precision!". Alas, it was not meant to be, as when I rose up to inspect the area where the ball had begun its Texas two step, it was nowhere near the plastic dots. I was heartbroken, as I lost yet another excuse for my poor play. To make it even worse, it was a seam in my three piece slate. So while I wait for my mechanic to come out and fix that, I remain continually amazed at how unobtrusive the Slug Doctor really is. I have grey Simonis 860 on my table, and the dots blend right in.

One thing I will say about one pocket with the SD is that it makes your break a lot better, as you have that perfect rack that allows you to safely peel off balls towards your pocket without destroying the stack.

Johnny <----- also looking forward to the Swanee this weekend.

Doesn't the post on the Slug Doctor tool go in & out with a spring? That's what it looks like on the video.

Hi Saturated Fats,

I believe Chi2dxa was referring just to the template. But...
Yes, the applicator tool does have moving parts. But an actual spring is not used so failure should be minimal.
There is a lifetime waranty on the applicator tool and a 21-Day Satisfaction guarantee. (details on the website)
