small investment on a cue please help

I know after buying nothing but Lambros cues. I would have to say it's not going to turn a quick turn around. I think a new builder on the block give this builder a few years under his belt. The builder is Rick Geschrey with Esoteric cues. He makes a real strog cue. Not only is it a strong hitter but his cues are some of the best looking cues out there. I'm not saying anything bad about the builders that have made a strong name for themselves, I just think someone should say something about some of the new cue builders. I hope that someone reads this and look into Ricks cues. I think Esoteric cues are going to always hold their own in the pool cue market. If you have never shot an Esoteric cue you should find one and test hit it. I hope you like it. Ziggy....
 
In the cue world, there is no current equivalent to buying GM at $5. Asking for advice on the internet is not a generally sound investment strategy. If you want to collect cues and hope to make money, you need to do the work. Buying a Szamboti or a Balabushka is only a good idea if you don't overpay, which is easy to do. Guessing which cues from newer cuemakers will be more valuable in the future is just guessing.
 
I will preface this by saying that I've lost money on every cue I've ever sold so I am slightly biased. My advice is to not try to invest in pool cues. If you enjoy pool cues and wish to own them for their aesthetic and functional value I say buy away. If you are just wanting to make money and view cues as a commodity then it's a bad idea.

I am now to the point where I am going to buy what I like and not worry about resale value. I play with all of my cues and get enjoyment from playing with them and looking at them and taking pictures of them. I hope to never have to sell any in the future but if I do it won't matter what the resale is at that time because I will have enjoyed them to the fullest. In summary, if you like cues, buy what you like but don't expect to make money.
