Small Lathe Mods

Was asked to show more pictures of the mods I did to my Microlux so here they are. I don't do threading on this lathe so I wanted to have control of the power feed speed separate from the headstock speed. This works very well. I used a 1:1 pulley setup to try it (it was what I had on hand) May change to a 2:1 later down the road. The controller and pulleys/belt came from Banggood.com I wired the motor to switch between hi/low but realized it wasn't needed, but did it anyways. The motor I had salvaged from a minivan before scrapping it. How the mounting goes for the motor really depends on the individual motor. As you can see, it's on a plywood sled that has a bolt I tighten to provide tension for the belt. Hope these pictures help someone down the road.

Seeing what you have done made me think of the cnc lathe project, where the guy used a basic rotary encoder for the spindle speed and orientation, and then used a stepper motor for the leadscrew speed and synchronised to the headstock. The simple solutions are the best.
