just ran across an article and picture of Ken "smitty " Smith...Wow it floored me.. I have just recentley begun playing again after about 35 yrs. Back when i lived in new jersey and was playing in one of the newest pool rooms at the time( near schuetsen park in hudson county. an older fellow with white hair ( i was 25 at the time) asked me if i wanted to play some pool..we did and he introduced himself as smitty.. after i got to know him , found him ....a really nice guy. >>>>i stopped playing about 8 yrs. later and now to find out that he eventually became a real friend and avid fan of a game i still love AND ......he lived to be 90.....Wow again...God Bless you Smitty...

Would that have been Debbie Smith's father? If so, I met him at the first BC Open years ago. May have met him before that when he came with Debbie to a women's tournament in Binghamton.

Park Billiards?

Do you mean Park Billiards under the Park Lanes bowling alley? We went there a lot when we were kids in the late 60's. I believe the last owner opened HiTech in Weehawken. I also walked down the hill I lived on to Hanley's on 77th St. and Tonnelle Ave (Rte 1&9) until it burned down in the 70's IIRC. Do you know where the Golden Que in North Bergen was? I've read about it but no one remembers the address.

the golden que was on kennedy blv up past the old sears store..... and the name of the pool room and bowling alley escapes me ...it was on 32nd st. and kennedy blvd. on the west side.....

Park Billiards

Yup, 32nd and the Boulevard. Park Lanes bowling and Park Billiards. I think it was built on part of Schuetzen Park and took the name from there. A guy I worked with was on the crew that took the tables out when they closed. While the new shopping center went up, a sign said they would re-open, but that never happened.
