Smoke in your home room?

When I'm on my way into the pool hall, I stop outside (in PUBLIC---ahem) where the smokers gather, and pause for a bit to bring back those old memories of the smell.

Those old photos everyone is posting lately are great but they don't convey the whole essence of the old-time pool halls with the smoke, the smells, and the feeling a kid got when he ventured inside these sacred halls.

Now that smoking has been force out into the public, it just isn't the same. I know it's bad, etc. but there was something, some thing, about all the senses turning on when going there.

My opinion, as an ex-smoker since Jan 1, 1975.

many more people smoked back then. and those that didnt went anyway as we wanted to be there even though i hated the smoke.
as i got older i stopped going in any places that allowed smoking when places made that choice. i am sure lots of others did as well when it became clear how harmful it was and the stink of it got to much to bear. my personal choice.

but as it got out of fashion places that still allowed smoking survived off the smokers until the crash. now there are much less places to play. its only going to get worse for the rooms that dont advance and live in the past.

almost every single player and friend from those times that smoked is either dead or very sick. hits them about 60 years old and downhill from there.

ive only met one person that said it was worth it to smoke and then he died a few months later in his 50's.
