Snakewood question

I am building a 6 point birdseye forearm with straight Snakewood points and they have turned out ok. I have a 12 inch piece of Snakewood that I plan on using for a natural wrap...Should I core the Snakewood or is it stable enough to leave as a solid handle??? I would really like to keep the weight that the Snakewood has to offer, so I don't have to plug in like a 3 or 4 oz weight bolt.

It's not!!!!!!!!! stable for a solid handle.

I'm no cuemaker, but from what I've heard, snakewood is not very stable and can be very difficult to work with, and even the slightest bump will create crack lines.

Def needs to be cored. Would surely weight more than you would want the finished weight at and it needs to be stablized with a core. Without coring your cue would surely end up over 20oz. If thats a weight range your looking for then core with a heavy center. Otherwise you should look at going with something lighter such as maple or PH.
Not knowing what your finished diameters on the caps are you may have to go as large as .875 for the core if your looking to keep around 19oz.

Work the snake very slow and don't heat it up when coring.......

Good luck...
