Sneak peak at my Mike Stacey amboyna and ebony cue in progress

Mike Stacey is getting close to finishing up my cue. It will be a 6 point SW style cue. Ebony forearm and amboyna points. White, silvery blue and black veneers. 3/8x11 pin. Lots of nice ring work. Probably going with a black lizard wrap.

I think he has one more turn and then will start the finish work.

He has been great to work with and he is a fellow Hoosier.

Wow what a beautiful cue that will be. The wood combinations and the veneers look great. I have a lizzard wrap on my current playing cue and I love the way it feels.
 
The chunky ring work is a little different. It sets it apart. The veneer colors are also excellent I might have to steal them for a project I have in the works.
 
Veneers and rings

I have been waiting for the right cue to mix the colors of the amboyna and this particular blue. I love them together along with the white and black.

As far as the rings, Mike said he was was going to do a ring that was "pretty" difficult to execute. They look very nice with all the colors of the cue involved.

It's coming together and can't wait to see it once it has a few coats of finish on it. It will bring the different colors in the cue even further.

jim, that's a nice looking cue and i say that knowing i'll have it's twin (except the veneer color). i can't wait to see these finished.

Beautiful cue Jim,I like Mikes work ALOT!
 
Mike Stacey is probably the most underrated cuemaker in the country...i have an 8 pointer from him that has ivory Propellers in the butt...and it is one of my favorite playing cues. Will post pics later. Congrats with the Beautiful acquisition.

Thanks for the compliments. I think the colors in the cue are beautiful.

There is going to be a tough decision coming up. Either this cue or the amboyna Callaluca cue that I posted pictures of last week will be my permanent player. I am going to sell the other cue to help fund the final payments for my Schick and Josswest cue that are both in the final stages.

Both cues will have 2 standard shafts and one matching OB-1 shaft. So if anyone is going to be in the market for a great cue at a great price in the near future, let me know. Pictures of both cues are on this board and final pictures of the Stacey should be up soon.

It is going to be a difficult choice.

I love that ringwork. It gives the cue a character. How about some closeup of the Butt Section?

Great looking cue.
I have always loved that combination so much that my next cue will be Amboyna Burl and Ebony (but reversed from yours where the points and butt shall be ebony, etc.).
Looking forward to seeing the updated pictures when this one is finished.
