Sneaky Pete Cues ……

Received my Schmelke SP- the butt is Bocote and is very well executed. However the shaft has a HUGE wobble when rolled. I will talk to the distributor next week about an exchange on the shaft. Otherwise everything looked great for $165 shipped to me with many customized specs .
I took it out once and it plays very solid and cannot complain for the money . Except for the shaft lack of straightness.

Look at the space under this new shaft- outrageous!!

I thought there were 3 bananas in the picture at first glance...

I see that Mueller is offering their "Hustler" cue (SP) for only $155- one time that was a sought after SP- I wonder if the quality is the same as years ago- if Troy Downey is now turning out these cues for Mueller than it is THE S/P cue bargain in America! Troy's cue work is as good as it gets.

The consensus from a prior thread was that they are made by Schmelke.

Their website states in the details section of that specific cue that it is made By Muellers - so maybe it is a Schmelke SP blank - assembled by Mueller in every other aspect including the all important shaft and joint - which if done by Troy Downey - it is still a great price at $155.

If I were buying one, just call Muellers and ask Chris there if, if fact the full splice SP butt is made in- house at Muellers or just assembled at Muellers with a Muellers produced shaft.

I just ordered a house cue. I’m going to buy some pvc and cap it at both ends. I’ve got a collection of two piece cues. I just have more success with a one piece.
Im getting mine split this week, just a pita to carry around like that,
but if i dont i might look into a pvc solution

im playing my best pool with this house cue though

Maybe split a pool noodle or something simular. So u can slide the cue in. It will look stupid but cheap and effective...also cardboard and good waterproof tape. (I make knife sheaths this way for my kitchen knives that I keep razor sharp.

I’d like to share more information. I’m possibly going to look at one of those grips you can slip on and drill out the butt enough to add some more weight. I ordered a 20 ounce but not sure of the accuracy of the weight. I’ve even thought about refinishing it in one or two colors or maybe a better lacquer finish. Who knows? I’m wondering what kind of reception I’m going to get with my friends.

Sounds like you and Justin need to have a play date

If he uses the pool noodle idea....the cue is guaranteed to float if he drives his car in the river on accident while following his gps directions

I get wanting to use a 1 piece cue . I've played with a couple that hit and play better than customs that cost several thousand. But that still doesn't make me want to carry it into the pool hall for a $ game or the tavern for league night. Lol

I just picked it up randomly because it was left at the table I went to one night I'm kind of surprised I picked it up in the first place
and it hits so good for how I shoot right now, had to have it. And the room owner is so Kool he let me have it for 5 bucks, Christmas presents

Did you just watch the office?

I have some of the best house cues so I get how great they play, and there was a time I was also thinking about how I could carry them. Instead, I sold some of my sneakies and bought others until I found the right ones that play even better. I recommend trying that.

That's how you recommend carrying it around? Buy more?
Not sure what you mean. I'm recommending to the members with a collection of sneakies that aren't as good as house cues to sell some and try others until they find sneakies that play better. AZ is a great place to do that. Converting a house cue may work too. I used to lock up a house cue at Grit's Bar in New Orleans many years ago. I've never seen another place to do that.

Guys and Dolls in Roanoke, Va, where I started playing pool in my teens, they used to do that. Friendly Cue in Lynchburg VA used to as well.

I don't understand what you wrote either, you said you used to wonder about how to carry them, then instead just got others that play better, how does that help with the issue of carrying them is what I asked

I had some sneakies (two-piece cues) that didn't play as well (at least for me) as my Huebler Mark IIs (one-piece house cues). Instead of trying to carry the Hueblers, I sold some of my sneakies (two-piece) and tried others. I landed on Al Romero's which I find to be one of the best. So I carry the Al Romero and never ended up carrying around the Hueblers but keep them at home to play off the wall. If I did want to carry a house cue, I'd probably try an inexpensive 60" snooker case.
