Sneaky pete of choice???

Hi,
I'm currently playing with a Meucci with a red dot for about 3 years. I would like to get that "solid hit" that I heard from other posts. I can't afford fancy cues so here is my question: which cue maker makes a good s/p?

For me, its Mike Bender.. but he doesnt make them anymore. Hard to find and if you do, it could be pricey due to the scarcity.
 
Sneaky Petes

Phillippi still makes a nice sneaky pete at a reasonable price. Bob Frey will make you a nice one for around $250.

If you're looking for a custom sneaky pete, try www.onthehill.net and look at the cues that Troy has to offer. Dynamite guy to deal with and has plenty to please the eyes!!

I've owned dozens of sneaky petes and to me, Chad Carter of Owensboro, KY makes one of the best customs. And they're actually less than what Meucci sneakys sell for retail.
 
I also am thinking about getting a sneaky pete. Currently I shoot with a mezz and I haven't really shot with all that many different cues (at least for more than a few balls), so I have a few questions too. I had a guy tell me that he believes that a s/p or even just a plain cue has a more true and consistent hit. Does anyone else have any opinions on this? He feels that the more inlays, rings, etc. that you have will cause the hit to vary, even if it is just a very small difference. Small differences in pool can mean a big difference if this has any validity.
 
I'm loving my mezz zz series SP. You can find one for under $300, plus I've got the extension which has been great since I am a one pocket player and s bupar bridge user.

I have a curly maple/ebony j/b cue that was made by Chad Carter. Hits great! I think it might have been one of his earlier cues, it has a couple things I want to get repaired or changed. You can see the cue on www.zimsrack.com under "Cue Collection"!

I like the way Scott Sherbine's sneaky petes look on Proficientbilliards.com He sells them really cheap and from what I hear they are supposed to play jam up. I think I will get one soon
 
i have played with many name brand cues and many customs......there are alot of great new and up and coming cue mmakers out there ......i would suggest maybe a dayton hustler or a hustler version from rick howard of mace custom cue......both are relatively unknown but make great palying cues as they are both players themselves.....i currently play with a dayton but have owned a cue from rick also......only sold it cause the money was to good for what i had in it......and i can say rick hits em super sweet so dont doubt his ability in either area.......juston coleman

I have a new BCM Sneaky Pete on order from Bryan Mordt. Can't wait to get it. Last time I spoke with Bryan he was thinking I would have it in early April. I will be sure to post some pics and a review when I receive it. It is going to be an Ebony and Birdseye Maple pete. If you read this Bryan, post an update please. ;)
 
Mike Webb. I can honestly say that I have played with one and the thing plays beautifully. I don't know if he still makes the petes but if he does that is who I would get one from. I know Mike is also a member here so he would be easy to contact. One of the most ethical, honest guys you will ever deal with as well.
