Snooker Cues & 9 Ball

Anyone played with a snooker or UK pool cue? I picked up the wrong case for a 9 ball match recently and had no choice but to play with my UK pool cue. I played out of my skin with it! I was putting the CB within 3 inches of where I intended like 85% of the time. Normally it would be 50%ish of the time.

The cue itself was £20 when I bought it and its a piece of crap to anyone except me. Its served me well for 10 years. 8mm rock hard tip, a dinged up brass ferrule and a conical ash shaft. It deflects A LOT, especially for a shaft with such a low end mass, but when shooting with english I don't have to think about how much squirt its going to produce, it just comes naturally.

If anyone knows of a cue maker that would be willing to make a cue out of Ash, 8mm tip, brass ferrule and a leather wrap please let me know.

I'm amazed more players don't use snooker style cues!

Cheers

Ash pool cues

I used to have a Craftsman snooker cue that came with a wider shaft for playing pool, perhaps you can still buy one. But personally I believe it is better to use a 'real' pool cue for pool.

Alternatively if you just like a narrower tip you might try a Predator Z2 shaft.

I'm sure it must have something to do with tradition, maybe even availability.

Aside from the leather wrap, there must be about 10 million cues like that in the UK.

WTF are you talking about man?
