SNOOKER GUYS???
Being a Yank and not up on the formats of big snooker events my question is: Are the formats as grueling as this event?

I am impressed with the snooker guys showing. Just keeping up with this event here in my comfortable home is exhausting me...LOL I can't even fathom what these players will be feeling by Sat/nite....

I'm thinking body fat % will play a part here. I'm not going to bet on any 'fat boys' anymore.

I would say no, Snooker has evolved into a professional sport and they wouldn't play as many mathces as this with short breaks between matches. However they do play 2 or 3 sessions a day with each session usually consisting of 8 frames with a short break for "tea" lol after 4 frames. As much as the tight pockets helped them the break cancelled it out. I would say that not having a competative break in 8 ball would be like a pool playing turning up at the world snooker Chmapionships and trying to compete without being able to pot long balls. They wouldn't be able to compete so I'm amazed at how well Ronnie, Hann etc have done.

Of course there is lots of cross over, Hahn is an ex 8 ball world champion, and Pro Snooker player, Younger is an ex Snooker pro but had several high profile 9 ball finishes. Mick Hill, Raj, Peach, Crosby, etc etc all had ambitions of Snooker Stardom at some point, most UK players would have that background.

I will say yes. Finals sometimes take 2 days to finish best of 35 games. 3 to four sessions of 3-5 hours each depending on how long each games are. And the slow play is boring. That's why I flip from one channel to another then go back to snooker and sometimes they are still on the same game. And if they have 200 players in one tournament, it would take them 2 months to finish.
