A Drexeline milestone board was installed yesterday! Snooker, three cushion, and 14.1

Karen Corr 65 , Ray Doherty 125 ,and Julie Kelly 99 were the first to be posted for snooker .

The newly (10-06)installed ,top of the line reconditioned table, is 6' by 12 with directional cloth and all the best accessories..
Bob Maidhof's high room and equiptment standards are evident again.

A places to play snooker in the U.S. list, would be welcomed on this board, along with users reviews . Good Rolls!!!

I've been in contact with Karen about Drexeline Billiards, and I'm hoping to play there myself sometime during this year. It sounds like a very nice room with a good snooker table.

There was a places to play snooker list on the SnookerUSA.com website, and I hope to get it back on there as soon as I can. However, that is a great idea of yours, if anyone would like to post reviews of places to play snooker in the United States in this forum, it would be extremely helpful indeed.

Regards.

Alan.

My high run at snooker happened during a $1.00 a point ring game. We play call pocket at the local room in Detroit. I ran 91 and out to finish a game. I then "open broke" potting a red on the break and ran 56 points before I finally missed an easy shot. This is my "continuous 147" bridged over two games. I got paid, so it counts for me. By the way, this was accomplished without the aid of a traditional snooker cue, just a Schon with a 314 shaft.

Great to see U.S snooker get some space.
Thanks, David

in 88 i ran a 53 or a 56(cant remember) point inning on a 12' table, with pockets a bit smaller than the english tables but much larger than American tables they play golf on.

I havent hit a snooker ball in 5 years, which is sad, but I have been retired from pool for along time, snooker is my favorite game, i have been watching it daily on youtube.com, man those guys can play. wow what beautiful game compaired to 9 ball.

Alright! I've been gone for 2 months and come back to this special surprise. We just got a snooker table at our pool room. It's a 5 x 10. My high run so far is 47 points. I love this game and I'm looking forward to chatting with you guys about it.

Hi I am the ray doherty that made it on to drexeline's break board, snooker is a beautiful game that I played for ten years in Ireland but have barely played at all in the last ten years since moving to the states to live. Bob's snooker table at drexeline is close to perfect so if anybody wants to set up some games I would love to hear from you. Also is there any tournaments other than the national's in CA. I would like to go but I live in Valley Forge so it's a bit of a hike. That one is for Alan Morris.

Hi Ray great to hear form you and I intend to get to Drexeline to play sometime soon, so when I can get there I will let you know for sure. I've played snooker exhibitions all over the United States and it's always great to play somewhere new and make new friends!

At the moment the USSA doesn't stage another Championship apart from the National in California, however we are working on producing new events. It will be a shame not to see you in California this year.

We do however stage a snooker event alongside the American CueSport Alliance (ACS) Nationals in Las Vegas such as the Can-Am Snooker Challenge (United States versus Canada), and we are expanding into more events this year.

As soon as I have the complete details about this I will post them on here for sure.

Regards.

Alan.

Any relation to Ken?

Our high runs since we opened have been
Tommy Lee 118 12 red clearance
Cliff Thorburn 108 missed last red with a possible 143
Tommy lee 95 missed an easy red with a possible 146
Cliff Thorburn 85
I've run 82 twice, 75, 67, 60 etc in the last 2 months

and we've had many runs over 60 from a few different players we have here and it's great to watch.

We play on Riley Aristocrat steelblocks with tournament size pockets on west of england cloth.

Snooker has been a dying game here for many years now, and we have dedicated our room in hopes of bringing the quality and players back into the game.

We have 13 riley tables and 3 of them are steelbacks.

If any of you get a chance to come into town, please come in and you can find a quality game any night of the week.

Hey Ray, it's Gerry! remember me?.....a bunch of us closed down that bar during the Expo! :) I still have a head ache! good to see you posting here. I figured a thread about that particular snooker table would perk your ears up.

For those of you that never met Ray, he's a hell of a nice guy, and a great player. I had the lucky opportunity to play Ray and a friend of his on that table when it was in Phoenixville. I got lucky and ran a few points surprising the real snooker players. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then!;)

Gerry

to the first post, no I am no relation to Ken but I played him in a junior tournament I think in 1988, and I look forward to meeting you Mr. Morris. Gerry good to hear from you, I owe you one on the snooker table. Also on the subject of high runs, what do you think the highest run in the US is right now for snooker? Has anybody hit a 147 here. The highest I have hit in this country is only 133 at Classic so I havent really come close yet. I know there is a lot of guys like Tony Crosby who were much better snooker players than me so maybe thay still play a little bit.

Hi there,

In a practice game I have had a 147 break in the US but I don't count practice 147s. My highest in a match in the US is 145.

Regards.

I love your place and have played there a few times with my friend. We drive all the way in from Abbotsford/Mission just to play on your tables. My friend has been less than 100% for some time but once he's back in shape we will be in on our regular Sunday.

Jim Bear ran a 147 about 2 years ago at Guys and Dolls. He is in his 50's and still plays great.

Ottawa, Ontario

Locally there are only a few rooms left that have snooker tables.

Cue N Cushion

Mike Pateneaude 146
Gerry Watson 137

That is in the last 6 years. Havent seen the boys playing snooker as much.

Orange Monkey

Kirk Cloutier ( I know Kirk would probably have run 143 or higher)

Personally my best was 107 with a missed colour for a 136.

Shane Sinnott taught me this great game

During this years Expo. I thoroughly enjoyed the strategy and skill it takes to play. It is not a simple fast paced American game. I loved the experience and look forward to the next time I can play.

P.S. Shane and I then went to the Irish Coffee Shop for our Irish Breakfast. After we got precise driving instructions from some of Shane's kinsmen.

Hey Kelly hope their is a table near your place so I can get more lessons.

:Dmy high run was 9 yes nine with a foul from shane. :):D

Thx for the kind words, Jimmy is still a great player, even at his age. Too many centuries to list, and he can run a 147 out of no where. Hope to see him play again soon.

Maybe we can get a "Pro - Am" tournament in the next few months, and possibly see some great snooker
