Snooker Takes a Cue from Pool [pun intended]

English Snooker Champion Jimmy White breaks from decades of tradition as he ditches the traditional bowtie and waistcoat. He'll be wearing a snazzy new jersey, like the pool pros do today, and the upcoming Champion of Champions in a specially-designed top.

Each of the 16 players in the Bolton event will don a different colored top — similar to the attire nine-ball pool players wear at the Mosconi Cup.

And these bespoke items will be available to buy online for £45.

The six-time world championship finalist, 61, said: “I do like the dress suit we wear in snooker, but I really don’t mind this. In fact, it’s quite comfortable."

The back of the shirt will have their nicknames. I can't wait to see Ronnie O'Sullivan's. I want one. I wonder who the jersey vendor is.

this is one of the three MR promoted events on the snooker tour, and we all now about emily's penchant for breaking traditions. they also had rasson snooker tables for these events last year.

but i thought you were referring to this cue related change (former WC semifinalist anthony mcgill):

Sweeeet. I got 50bux coming from someone who told me you'd never see pro snooker player use a cf cue. Pay up sucka!!!!

Yep, that was weird to watch. When he first came on with that. Around 3 weeks ago.
I didn't think, you would see it. One thing i would say, compared a normal snooker cue,
It looks very thick, definitely not a 9mm. But he seems to like it.

in my experience cf often looks thicker than it is. i doubt he switched diameter drastically. it's a GO custom cue

We‘re dealing with LD here….it can be thicker. I found that the original Z-shaft at 11.5 spun like my snooker cue…
which was well over a millimeter thinner.

Yay, an eighty year old man dressing in a child's pyjamas. Color me unimpressed.

Think a couple of players have toyed with graphite and other materials over the years. I think the American pro who got on the tour was the last player before McGill to use CF made cue. Ahmed Ali Al-sayed was his name (off the top of my head)

I watched him play live when he was young against Stephen Hendry and he was in top gear and put it to him. Still loving the game after all these years is something.
My father played him for a frame in an exhibition around 15 years ago, when I was a teenager, he pulled up in a Land Rover with the reg CU3 BOY and dressed like he was about to hit the strip. One of the most entertaining exhibitions I've watched, treated every frame on the night like it was a show. Fantastic player, and did wonders for the game.
