i tried to play it a few days ago at fatboy's house. i never really understood how challenging it really is.

Yup! Even the best can look like total amateurs on off days.
So this was your first time? Did you enjoy the game?
Glad you got a chance to try it, and get a good feeling for how challenging the game is. Pool players just don't "get it" when they're told go try so-and-so shot on a snooker table. And they don't realize how much they need to work on fundamentals until they try to pocket an eleven-foot [even straight-in!] shot into those tiny rounded-corner pockets accurately. Gives a whole new perspective on what real accuracy means -- solid fundamentals. CTE is certainly not the answer.
Spend some extended time on a snooker table, then go back to a pool table and watch what happens. It'll be hilarious, trust me. You'll be pocketing shots you'd never attempt previously.
