Televised production values can go along ways to creating a public image for a sport. And the IPT production values were definitely above anything else done before it in terms of televised pool here in the USA. It amazes me that the rest of the world can enjoy top quality televised pool programing, except here in the USA. I watch the pro snooker events live online each month and they do a great job of presenting snooker. All the Matchroom Sports pool events are extremely well done once you get a chance to see what they do. The asian pool events that are broadcast are also well done when you can find a stream to watch.
It's disgusting that ESPN Star network can continually produce high quality televised pool for any major pool event taking place in asia, and ESPN here in the USA can litterally go in the opposite direction to continually produce the lowest possible quality pool product. To me it shows that the programming executives at ESPN USA could honestly care less about pool, or even think that they have any responsibility to produce the best possible televised sport event no matter what the sport that is being broadcast. Those executives just DO NOT care. And they will continue to not care until they are presented with evidence that the American sports audience is demanding a change.
