So, why is Blud OK and Fast a dog?

OK, I admit I'm trolling a bit here, but it's a rainy afternoon and I'm waiting for my computer to finish a long install. I'm really tired of the bullshit attacks posted here by nearly everybody, and wonder whether I'm wasting the effort.

I've read a bunch of stuff from both Blud an FL, and they both strike me the same way. I'm gonna list the attributes in no particular order, with no intentional bias. They both are:

Older than the forum average
Opinionated
Under-educated
Claim to be good at what they do
Feel that they have had issues in the past that they need to defend

By the last point, I remember Blud defending against the dilution of his name, and FL posting about people "stealing" his shots.

So, how many people here have both played with a Blud cue and played against FL? I have never heard of Blud before, and I think his cues are immensely over-priced considering that all a cue needs to be is a striaght piece of wood with a leather tip. Am I supposed to be in awe because he is some kind of cue savant?

I guess that my overall point is that we should all leave people alone. In another thread somebody posted that the "old timers" may not understand what a touchy world they are stepping into on-line (it had something to do with Japs, but I didn't read the whole thread). Maybe all the touchy people should realize that not everybody in the world will conform to their ideal of politeness and tolerance. Maybe too many people are nit-picking on the semantics and "tone" of posts rather than trying to extract actual information. Or, maybe it's because so much of pool seems to be made up of ego and woofing that nobody can just relax and have a good time.

Anyway, I had a point when I started this, but either you get it or you don't.
It's just so frustrating to see a medium like this bogged down by worthless, petty bullshit which helps nobody.

YUK, this is exactly the kind of crap that gets everybody bent out of shape.

You call both these men under-educated? Who are you to make that observation?

You say you have never heard of or played with a Blud, but think his cues are immensely over-priced?

Then you say your point is to leave people alone???????

I think your mom and dad should review your posts before you submit them.
 
I think one of the problems with this forum and the world in general right now is that people just are not considerate of others. When I drive down the freeway and I'm in the fast lane, I look in my rear view mirror a lot because when someone comes up behind me wanting to go faster than what I'm doing (I drive pretty fast most of the time) I move over to the right lane and get out of their way. There are so many people out there that won't do that. They could care less about the other people. That same thing is happening on this board. I tried to tell Blud that his whole problem with the Asian comment was that he needs to be considerate of others when he's posting. This board can be viewed by anyone anywhere in the world. Think about that a little when you start wording your post. I understand that people should be more tolerant too but when you are initiating the post, think before you type!

In that context, I've often wondered if they were inconsiderate or completely oblivious. The difference in my mind being that one is conscious and one isn't. I prefer to think that people just don't pay attention, but I would rather not think that there are that many truly self-centered people out there.

Yeah, but where do you draw the line? Where does everything that you type or say become a type of double-think a'la 1984? I really believe that people choose to become worked up over things (like the Asian comment). I honestly don't know whether they are truly upset or just acting out some PC fantasy where everybody is tolerant of everybody else as long as long as they only think positive thoughts.

I could be annoyed by TopSpins post, but it's obvious that he missed the point. I admitted that I was trolling to start with, but I was trying to make a point. On one hand we want Blud to be sensitive about Asians, but on the other hand nobody here is in the least bit tolerant of what FL posts and his viewpoints. (Did any Asians complain about Blud's post?)

I guess that I'm not articulating this clearly, and don't know if I can. Everybody seems to pay lip service to "It takes all types", but when confronted with an actual different type they get all bent out of shape. It seems to me that it is the pinnacle being self-centered that in an open forum people only want things that they find acceptable posted.

Good post. I just have one thing to add related to what you said below,

If people are completly oblivious, then they are still inconsiderate. You cannot get on a public road and be oblivious of your surroundings without being pretty inconsiderate IMHO.
 
mungtor....if you think bluds cues are over priced you need to come out into the real world and look at some of the other cues out there.......his cues are very reasonable by comparison......wake up man.......JUSTON

Mr Justin, do you play with a blud cue, is your ferrule ivory? Do you sell them, have you sold them? since when is $850 for nothing but a fancy house cue a great deal. You can buy 3 Meuccis for that same price.
 
jacko ....again i will say its juston with a o not like everyone else thats to lazy to notice seems to make it wanna be justin.....JUSTON.....no i dont play with a blud and no i dont sell or have i ever sold them......i play with a phillippi and a dayton.......yes my ferrules are ivory......so whats your next complaint......ivory or not thats just some ones way to find something to be nitty about.......if you wanna bicth why not bitch about coutries that work there people for low wages and in substandard conditions........i promise you look around and learn a little about cues and you will see blud is no more out of hand with prices than some guys.......hell not everyone can build cues and sell them as cheap as joss and meucci.......90%of custom cuemakers are asking 1000.00 or more for there basic model.........JUSTON COLEMAN

I guess that is the attitude ones gets from one who has so little education he can't even spell his own name.
