This is nothing new. Donnie Anderson, the bank pool champ, used to sell tips I think he called "Black Max's" which were LePros he treated. I understand that his process involved dipping in solvent to remove the varnish coating, soaking them in milk, then soaking them in a black leather dye, before he wrapped them in tin foil and baked them.
