Soft hitting cues?

I would like to thank everyone for the responses.

I’m not sure why SS (Steal to Steal) joint would have a soft hit.
I would prefer a soft hitting cue with uni-lock joint because all my shafts are uni-lock. And yes I want to put a z-shaft on the cue.
I never new that Lucasi had soft hitting cues.
I heard that Meucci are soft hitting especially with power piston whatever that is.
I would buy a Meucci but I hear the new cues have a lot of problems.

I’m leaning towards Pechauer or Mcdermot.

Flex you mentioned a sneaky pit. What kind do you have and what kind of a joint type?

Thanks

My sneaky pete was bought on eBay for a song. It cost me a whole $16 plus shipping. The brand is Excalibur, made by Cuetec. Nothing about the cue resembles a cuetec cue in any way. It has a wood to wood joint, with a 5/16X18 thread, the same as is found on Meucci and others. Some people say it's a bit butt heavy, however I love the feel, which is totally subjective. Hits great.

There are two of them on ebay right now:

A note: the tip that comes on these cues is a mother. Hard as hell. Almost like a phenolic. You'll definitely want to change the tip, or maybe put a Predator 314 shaft on it with your choice of tip. These cues shaft taper is very stiff, just like a stiff house cue. Be forewarned! However, change the shaft, or retaper it and it will hit plenty sweet. Without modifications, this cue is great for breaking.

Which mass produced cues have the softest hit?

Is you question a Joke  If not think Meucci Red Dot Shaft Cues like the PP-II:mad:

soft hit

I can say that you can't miss with a Huebler if you want a soft hit without breaking the bank. They have a nylon lined joint that gives a generally soft hit. Also I agree with others that many sneaky petes have a soft hit. Hit is subjective and many cues offer a soft hit. Go somewhere were they'll let you try out several cues.

Interesting...

Although these are really good choices (and they really are...), I'm going to back flex on this one and suggest a good sneaky-pete. Personally, I'd rather have a custom sneaky made, and you could get one done in the same price range as some of the cues that have been mentioned on this thread. One of the guys who one his IPT tour card (his last name is Miller, I think...) beat Alex P. with an old Dufferin butt and tapered shaft. My Coker sneaky has a nice soft-solid hit, which I like very much. I have a shaft with Coker's taper and a 314 matched to it. Also, for what it's worth, I feel that wood-to-wood joints have a softer hit compared to SS joint. Of course, this would depend on the cue maker/builder as well.

What parameters of a joint make the cue soft or hard hitting?
Does uni-lock joint automatically mean hard/stiff hit?
Or is it all in the butt and how it compresses?
What would happen if one was to put a technology shaft on it?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Its always been my opinion that Bludworth makes the best soft hitting cue on the planet. Nat Green at SouthEast also makes a great cue with a soft hit....hope that helps
