Soft tips on CF shafts

I will disagree, but because we are both gentlemen, this will not escalate into a flame war such as the one that's been going on for years between two other RSB/ASP people.
Hey, Dave. DrDave just did a nice thorough video on soft tips and hard tips if you haven’t seen it.

Kamui's got a new tip that is designed for carbon fiber shafts according to the marketing literature I've read. It is a medium called "kamui athlete" I guess. Anybody try it yet. It's a smart move on their part to try and capitalize on something like that. Anybody try it out yet?

I had the Kamui Athlete put on my revo a couple weeks ago. It's really hard to explain, but you get a firm hit that feels soft. It is a very noticable difference. The Athlete is a layered tip that starts out with hard layers, topped off with medium layers.

I saw where Alex P. uses a soft tip for One Pocket and a harder tip for 9 and 10 ball. He uses two different cues.

Many One Pocket players use soft tips. When you feel layered tips with your thumb it's hard to tell soft from medium.

SOFTER tips work better for me with the CF shafts. I played well over 80 hardness tips with maple.
With CF, I play in the 74-78 range due to the increased stiffness in the shaft.
Soft tips feel like mush to me on maple, and slightly too soft on CF.
My experience only. ymmv

Ye Alex also plays a way more forward weighted cue for 1p. Said the soft tip and balance help him play all those little finesse shots you need in 1p, but he needs more pop and a different equipment setup for big stroke games like 9b and 10b.

With the prevalence of soft tips in 1p, either a lot of guys are just drinking the soft tip Kool Aid, or maybe these fine tuned, well-oiled machines may be on to something. I've heard plenty of guys say they can spin the ball better at low speeds with soft tips. My personal experience hasn't showed that much of a difference at all save for the feel... a soft tip digging into a ball just feels different and I love it. At low speeds it seems to provide me with more feedback rather than the expected lower amount for soft vs hard.
