I am hooking up a 3 shade light. What will give me the best lighting?

Soft White CFLs, Daylight CFLs, or standard incandescent bulbs?

I prefer incandesant, but I also use the Phillips Reveal bulbs. brings out all the colors in the table.

Most of what you are asking is all about personal preferance.

Compact fluorescents take time to warm up before they put out the right amount of light, but they work great. Look for cool white.

If you opt to go with incandescent, no prob there either. I would strongly suggest getting 130 volt bulbs though.
This will in effect make them "heavy duty" and can take additional vibrationt ( hitting the light ) and they will last much longer than 120v.

PS, I've never seen or heard of a daylight CFL. That would mean it has at least a 5000 Kelvin rating.

Cool white is 4100 warm white ranges from 3500-2800.

Warm white is used for bathrooms and food prep areas, as it makes things look more natural. They give off a pinkish glow.

The Daylight CFL was at Lowe's, made by Sylvania. It is rated at 5000k and a CRI of 87.
