Hello Jokrswylde,Couple Questions for AnitoKid. I have seen a couple of interviews where Effren says he is retiring from international competition, can't do the travel anymore, bad eyesight, knees, etc...
1.To your knowledge has he managed his income to where he can retire comfortably?
2. How is his overall health? He looks as if he is moving around the table well, and MAN he still has that super smooth stroke and puts the white ball exactly where he wants it.
He has meant so much to pool throughout his career, always winning (and losing) with grace and humility. If anyone deserves a comfortable retirement, it is him...although, I don't know too many people I would bet on against him in a shortish race of 1p...
Thanks for your passion in showcasing The Magician and all of the Phillipines!
This is just my opinion, not Efren's.
1. He and his wife have always been responsible with money. I remember the interview he did way years back wherein he and his wife highlighted their efforts to put the earnings to good use via apartments, real estate purchases, etc.
Efren respects money through hard work. Respect, not love.
He also has a generous heart. A very generous one. If one thinks that the Champ is nice and all on camera, wait till you see him when the cameras are off and all! He is very kind and generous really.
2. With regard to health, he is doing very well compared to other people his age. I literally watched him play for like 4-5 hours straight in a race to 20++ match at the Golden Break Hookah Bar and Billiards in Las Pinas City.
I got tired just sitting and covering the event via FB Live! And I was able to take smoke breaks, too. And there was Efren playing like everything is on the line against a very good player half his age. And he doesn't seem to get tired during play. Wow!
Efren is really the greatest. A very dangerous man on the green felt with a heart like no other when the cameras are off. Simple. Humble. Modest. That is the honest truth.
