once this cue is tapered the points will be about half as long. Your angle on top is way to extreme.

Yup, you're correct. When I played around with it, I guess a 10" V cut for the points would do, but after tapering the cue together, it was around 4" high.

I'll have to update the splice and the pictures later tonight when I get a chance
 
Looks like I'm learning as I'm making these...
Initially when I started cutting the points, I started from corner to corner, then after its tapered do I realise that the sharp corners that I started with doesnt event make it to the forearm.

In this model, I started with 14" long V cut from a 1.5" square. After tapering, the points are around 10.5" long from sharp end to sharp end. After the veneers meet, it would make it about 7" long to the tip of last veneer.

Thanks, but whats the one thing left to do?
...create fixtures for the sharp full splicing and the veneer splicing?

OR....quit while I'm ahead and havent spent any $ on equipment?
