For a friendly:
1 game double elimination. One RACK of 1 ball one pocket determines the break. Finals race to 2.
For expediency regardless of competition level:
Short rack(11 ball) race to 2. Double elimination.
Someone said 1pkt players don't love tournaments. I think there's something to this. Most of them are action players and playing well in a tournament in front of all your potential customers is the fastest way to knock yourself.
But 1pkt tournaments still have merit. Just don't add a bunch of money and you'll be fine. When they get established, they tend to do pretty well from what I've seen in my geographical area.
