"When there's a gap you either commit yourself as a professional racing driver that is designed to win races or you come second or you come third or come fifth, and I'm not designed to come third, fourth, or fifth. I race to win, and if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver." Ayrton Senna

Just replace "racing driver" with "pool player" and you've got some real inspiration...

"When there's a gap you either commit yourself as a professional pool player that is designed to win matches or you come second or you come third or come fifth, and I'm not designed to come third, fourth, or fifth. I play to win, and if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a pool player."

Thoughts? IMO

Senna died in 1994 trying to fit his car into a gap that wasn't there. He was a great driver though, one of the all time best. Three times a Formula One World champion I believe. I think your analogy is a good one. If you want to be a champion, you have to go for it!

Absolutely... You've got to capitalize every chance you get. One mistake may lead to two or three racks, so you've got to be confident in your abilities. I'm not sure why I love pool but a good game makes me just as nervous as a good race, so there must be something in that.

Sorry Jay, No other car was involved in the crash. Cause of crash was believed to be a failed steering component.
