Something from Pete Rose

But of course you do. How else could you try and justify your "importance" in the pool world without a name.

Not trying to justify anything — if you think that it’s just in your head.

In fact, given your last few posts and reading through your posting history I think I know who you are.

In my experience it is a combination of competition and focused practice -- wash, rinse, repeat.

You absolutely have to compete. It makes you prepare, it gives you a naked to the world test of your true abilities, and the opportunity to refine and perhaps eliminate your failure points.

Character builder like no other.

Lou, our seniors races to three games is not an accurate indicator of ones skill set. You competed with a very talented group of players. The next best thing to playing and winning is PLAYING. See you next year.

we all get worse as we age. tough shit but thats what happens.

and we can only play as well as we can play. most times when we think we dogged it or should have made the shot but didnt, and its because we shot our speed which includes missing some or many harder shots that normally go in.
but not often enough for our brains to realize that we do not make them all.

OK, I get that... but some of us are still spry enough that those issues do not come into play.

You've done many things most simply dream of Lou. The arm chair warriors will always be envious and you know what that breeds.
I've seen you at your best and there's only a handful that might've given you trouble in your heyday.
I'm going thru that age related decline myself and it's a tough pill to swallow when you know what you're capable of, yet it won't manifest on call as it once did. The reality is, it may never again. Who amongst us wouldn't mourn for that ability once lost??
But a man's got to know his limitations.
Acceptance of that is the only thing that brings peace to an aging warrior like yourself.
I admire the stance you've taken my friend. Carry on Lou. They're all watching.👍🏼🫡

OK.

But I do have the balls to post my name after every word I write, penguin ;-)

Me2

Fatboy<———my real name 😉

Eric Petersen is just something my mom and dad came up with 😅

Ok back to the argument. Sorry to interrupt 😁😉😀

I’ll be 58 in a couple months and can’t make a ball/ doubt I make it to your age Lou, glad you’re out there having fun. It’s encouraging

Take care

Eric P <———Fatboy just sounds better

Lou do you play backgammon?

I switched to it a few years ago, it’s fun and is very competitive. Most good BG players are not chess nerds or computer geeks.

Give it a go sometime. You might enjoy it.

Take care

Fatboy 😃

I have played it, also Go, and cribbage, a little chess too along with pinochle, bridge, poker, gin, and tonk.

Chess way back when. At one time I was a fanatical 21 player and could keep count through a couple of decks. But then they went to multiple decks, early shuffling and automatic shoes and that was that.

I think I've lost the brain cells for most of them anyways,

That’s cool, you played everything.

I’m possibly the world’s worst gin player. It’s absolutely impossible for me to play that game. Removal games are more difficult than spelling for me.

I like backgammon. The action is great and the swings can be huge. It’s kinda like 1P but luck is a much bigger factor.

Good stuff,

Best
