Something I've wanted since I got into Custom Cues came today...

Absolutely love this cue.

This cue is now for sale. Need to fund my first "for me" custom. My CM of choice is finally building me a cue. I'd love to keep this too but just can't afford both :(

http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=396492

So when I started getting into custom cues I did a lot of reading on various cuemakers and tried to learn as much as I could as quick as possible so I didn't buy junk. Well thankfully, I never have. But the one thing that I couldn't find was any cuemakers with my name; Danny. Then one day I finally did. And from what I read he was a pretty good cuemaker. I really didn't know jack about cues (Still don't I guess, according to some - But that's okay :) ). I just wanted one from a guy who shared my name.

Fast forward a bit and I was having a really hard time finding one. And quite some cues later there were a lot of cues with huge hype, and pretty typical results. I figured there wouldn't be anything that lived up to the hype I heard about Sugartrees. For me, the ones I had surpassed the hype I heard. So I figured it was a pretty good chance that I'd have a well made cue when I finally got a Tibbitts, but I didn't know if I'd switch my daily player out.

When I saw this one for sale I not only had to switch my player, I had to sell it. That Sugartree hoppe was the best cue I've ever hit a ball with and I actually lost a few nights sleep regretting selling it. I could only hope this cue lived up to Danny's reputation.

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE veneers are a dark green and purple/pink combo. So when I saw this come up for sale, I knew this had to be it. Plain or not, I didn't care - I don't think I'll ever get another opportunity to get one with my favorite veneers.

And FINALLY after driving back to Indy after picking it up I was able to see what all the fuss was about.

Normally I play with an OB Pro+ but I knew I had to try out the famous 14 year seasoned shafts. Even though they're way bigger than what I normally play with. The results were pretty interesting.

I'm not a great player by any means but going from my 11.4 MM OB to a 13MM maple shaft with an ivory ferrule made me think I'd have trouble running much. I broke and ran 3 out of the first 10 racks I played with it. Which for me is pretty good.

Anyways my opinion? If anyone really cares? I'm not only beyond thrilled and impressed, I'm pretty certain I'm going to stop flipping my players because I can't let this one go. I've said it twice before but this cue is incredible. It (for me) plays so intuitive to what I think the cueball should do given a certain stroke/speed that it's creepy.

It transfers energy so well I have started to half stroke so many things and just let the cue do all the work.

Probably going to just sell my OB shaft. I don't think I'll need it anymore.

I'm going to change my 'collection' goals entirely after this. If Danny's cues all play similar to this then I think I've found what I need to buy from now on. Believe the hype. If you're ever in Indy and want to try it out PM me.

Nice

Very, very nice cue. You can tell by the joint face and construction that it's quality work - and has to be a player. I'm jealous. Those points are pinched perfectly. Great find. Enjoy it sir.

I almost made a move on a Tibbitts twice, looked
much like this one. Great cue, classic look, and
I love the veneers. Let me know how it plays so
I can slap myself for not pulling the trigger...haha.
Congrats on the 2 fantastic cues that are pictured.

Hercek, Prewitt & Tibbitts

The above cue-makers are the trilogy for me.......I have my eyes on a Hercek cue I'm thinking about buying, and I now have my Prewitt pool cue but finding cues made my Danny is really difficult. And it sure doesn't help the search efforts when I want an ivory joint and also a light weight. This combination tremendously shrinks the field of candidate cues. In fact, the last 5 years of looking, I have never seen any Tibbits cue like that.......it might not even exist for all I know.

It's great to view photos of your new Tibbits cue but it's even more satisfying to read about your excitement and delight over acquiring this cue. Congrats on finding what might become your "Ex Calibur" in pool cues.

One is in Germany, full ivory Joint, EE wrap and 18,5 oz:wink:
NFS

What about Danny Janes? There are plenty of great Joss cues to add to your collection.

OMG.....Big Tatoo......Germany........

Big Tatoo.....what a coincidence.......the specs on the Tibbits you mentioned are exactly what I want. How ironic this Tibbits cue is in Germany because I have a purchase (pending) for a 2nd Ed Prewitt cue with a Azer who's just an absolutely great, stand-up kind of guy. The irony is that this EP cue also resides in Germany and that cue also weighs 18.5 ozs.

The challenge in consummating the purchase of either cue, or both, doesn't involve money. It's the friggin' ivory ban and until there's a legal way to get those cues into the USA for escrow, I can't go forward with a purchase which is killing me. The design of this other Prewitt cue makes the one I own look like just a nice, average cue.

From what I can tell, pretty much any Tibbits cue that has an ivory cue joint would very likely be a rather rare specimen of Danny's cue-making skills. I only see piloted steel joints on Tibbits cues offered for sale or photos of recently acquired cues. Another noteworthy cue-maker, George Balabushka, also only made very few ivory joint pool cues.

Oh well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping I'll eventually own the gorgeous EP in Germany and furthermore, if that ivory joint Tibbits cue overseas ever reaches our shores, if that owner reads or gets wind of this post, I hope that person will please contact me via AZ, or BklynBambino2015@gmail.com or call me at 559-977-6944 (PST) because we will work out a deal.

Personally speaking, I enjoy and look forward to reading exuberant comments from Azers getting a new cue and when the cue is as handsome as the one in this thread, and the cue-maker happens to be Danny Tibbits, it makes the thread and cue photos all the more enjoyable and interesting, at least for me. I only wish there were a lot more of those type threads.

I'm pretty much giving up on buying any second hand cues except Danny's if they all play close to this.

Cue

Glad you found that needle in the hay stack, hope you keep it and play the shit out of it.

Come up my way and hit me up buddy

You gotta come to the Brickyard and give this a try.

I wanna try that badass Runde out.

Cue

Danny when I do get up your way I be sure to call, I would love to test drive that beauty. As for the Runde I made it my daily player, I put a Jensen shaft on it, and its so perfectly balanced it's literally the best cue I've ever played with. I really want you to try it when I'm up their, think you'll love it as well.

WELL - Looks like we're going to be meeting up buddy.

As soon as Bob Danielson sends the 3x8/11 shaft he made for Ashley / that Jensen we're gonna give her a test whirl on it and then we'll trade back.

Luckily that CA$H has the same pin

But she's up for the trade. So long as it's the same as original trade.

me too Mr DD Adams

Mister D.D. Adams, Hello my name is Xavier McCrotchie. I also would like cue with
my name. Maybe you know one in the states and will be so kind as to forward me
the information.

Thank you kind sir.

Shouldn't you be at work, Xavier?

Great news can't wait to play you some. Should be up your way next weekend. Also looks like my old Bender cue is coming back home also. Funny how this work out.

I'm heavily debating changing the wrap on here.

What would you guys do? I'd LIKE to keep her all original but I'm really more of a leather guy. I'm very certain that I will never sell this unless Danny were to build me a personal cue. Even then I doubt I'd sell it. But you never know.

Anyways the options are,

Black Elephant Ear of course,

Chocolate Western Bull

Oil tanned Spanish Bull
http://www.superiorcues.com/SpBulOT.jpg

Oil tanned Bison

Black

Brown

Black Kangaroo

Never felt or seen a Kangaroo wrap. Anyone have any opinions on this?

Charcoal Grey Elephant Ear

I REALLY like the charcoal colored elephant ear. But I'm not sure how well it would look on the cue?

I'm a HUGE fan of how elephant ear feels. But anything oil tanned would be REALLY nice too.

Maybe I just need to start saving more and buy three or four of Danny's cues so I can have all the different wraps on different cues.

If only...

I'm a huge fan of BROWN leather wraps too.

What to do?!

Help! lol ;)
