OK so I just got back from the pool room, and I had a strange experience. When we started playing today I was struggling, scratching on wierd shots, mis-cuing, getting skids?......so after a few games of 1P I said to my bud Jimmy these shots just don't sound right?....that statement even to me sounded funny. Earlier He was talking about how he changed his grip hand a bit after watching some of the Pros at the Derby this year. He is working on leaving the front finger OFF the cue and let the middle 2 do more of the work.
So, I started paying attention to my grip hand, which was just too firm, so I lightened things a bit, and started to listen to the "ping" sound my cue makes when I hit the ball pure. Almost instantly I started playing much better.
I tried to explain wat I was doing to one of the other guys there but it was hard to do. Trying to tell someone I'm concentrating on the sound of a shot was strange at best.
Do any of you "listen" to the shot? or try to adjust by how you hear the contact of the cue and cueball?....
