Souquet & TAR

Is Ralf flatly opposed to playing a TAR match? I for one am not put off in the slightest by his deliberate, methodical (ok, slow) play, and I would expect him to be an absolute beast in the TAR pit. I'm guessing he has been approached and subsequently declined, but, if so, what is his reason for not considering it?

TAR is an acronym...it stands for 'The Action Report'.
Some world champions don't gamble.
I understand that Ralf doesn't gamble.

It would kinda be like having a 'Valhalla' celebration in a church basement..
..which I've actually seen...

I guess I don't see it as black and white as that. Two sponsors putting up $ for their players to compete in a winner-take-all match isn't my idea of gambling in its truest form, but more akin to what players on the tournament trail already do on a weekly basis. Eating drive thru sushi, now that's gambling. :embarrassed2:

As i understand it, Ralf's back has gotten bad recently and he is playing nowhere near top speed anyway.

Also after he does his initial perusal of the table which takes a little while, he shoots the same speed as most anyone else because he gets right where he wants to be 90% of the time.

You dont really see Ralf's matches being the last to finish.

The format is no longer backroom gambling, it is King of the Hill. But I don't know that Ralf is the style of player people over here want to see either.

Good point, but the SPIRIT of TAR is to put your money where your mouth is.

Ralf, like the three great Davis" ( Joe, Fred, and Steve ) just doesn't look
right in those situations.

Hmm...maybe it would work if he was offset with Alex, a legitimate high-roller.

When Ralf beat Alex for the US Open 9-ball, we all went back to QMasters.
Most people were partying, gambling, making games or just generally whoopin' and hollerin'. I sat with Ralf for quite a while, 'cause he looked
like a Sunday school teacher in a biker's clubhouse.

If I am not mistaken, during one of the pod cast Jason said he wanted to limit the players to those that live or play a lot here in the States. He wants to make more money available to the players from here to help better the game in the States. I could be way off base here tho.

Who's Jason?

It wouldn't happen because Souquet doesn't gamble. He's strictly a tournament player if I'm not mistaken.

If we could convince Ralf to match up with Dippy ... that's some Yin and Yang right there. You'd certainly find out how much he can fade.
