South Florida Pool Halls - Need Recommendations

I'm going to be down in the Pompano Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, FL area this coming weekend and need recommendations on quality pool halls down there. I'm looking for spots that keep their equipment well maintained, have a decent crowd of folks, and cold beer. I'm not necessarily looking for action, just a place to hang out, shoot a few racks, and relax.

Any info is appreciated!

hollywood billiards is nice...

Hollywood Billiards is the place to go. While their tables (Brunswicks) may not be the best in South Florida, it is the best pool room in terms of players, action and weekly tournament (tues nights @8pm). The room also has a 6x12 golf table, full liquor and its open 24hrs. In broward county, there is no other choice of pool room that even comes close.

I lived in S FL in the late 1990s, and used to play at Broadway Billiards on Biscayne in Aventura. Does anyone know if that's still there?

Bumping this up to see if there are any more recommendations before I head down there tomorrow. Looks like Hollywood might be the spot though, it's about a half hour south of where I'm going to be.

Side Pockets is about a mile west of the Pompano Beach exit on the turnpike. Very large room with 9' GCIII's and bar boxes. More of a large sports bar place, not much action, but closer to Ft. Laud/Pompano.

Also for a small 10 table room in Ft Lauderdale, try the Miscue near Commercial and Prospect..also has 9' GC's. Kinda dingy room but cheap rates ($3.50/hr) and cold beer!!

Maybe this will help. http://www.playpool.com/finder/
But call ahead. Their list is outdated. Type in your location top right corner.

The list is out of date but we are in the middle of updating it right now. We hope to roll out the new database in a couple weeks. When we do we would really appreciate any help from users on rooms that are closed that we missed, or rooms that we don't have listed. Thanks!

Plenty of rooms in the area.

Miseraks if its still their and Hustlers are also okay. They are both on the out dated list.:)
Miseraks was not Steve's room. They just somehow got to use the name.
His room was further up, north of WPB.
The family that owns Hustlers might even post here. I know I have seen them on ebay.

Playboy Billiards in Lake Worth - north of Ft Lauderdale about 20 miles.
9 - 9' Brunswicks
1 - 9' Diamond
2- Soren Sogard heated billiard tables

There are a few other pool halls within 10 miles also. Lots of good players in the area.

Hollywood Billiards: SR 7 South of Hollywood Blvd. Full Liquor and Action is great. Tables ok.

Beyond Billiards: University Drive, Between Griffin & Stirling. Beer License. Action ok. Tables Ok.

Billiard Club: SR84 (North side) between Nob Hill and Pine Island. Full Liquor. Action is minimal. Tables Nice.

Billiard Club: Sawgrass Mills Mall. Full Liquor. Action is minimal. Tables Nice.

Hot Shots: University Drive Between Oakland and Commercial. Full Liquor. Action is minimal. Tables Nice.

Beach Billiards: (Unsure if it still exists) Sheridan St and SR7 Beer License. Action is minimal. Tables Nice.

Hope that helps.

Tony at Playboys is a great guy. Don't forget Grovers is in the same area also.

Thanks to all for the responses. I'm heading out this morning for Pompano/Ft. Lauderdale and intend to check out a couple of the recommended spots.

One note on the http://www.playpool.com/finder/ list. Once this is updated, it would be nice if there was the ability to leave comments, etc. (maybe a rating system) for the rooms. A simple list of places that own a pool table doesn't really help with requests like mine. Having the ability for web site visitors to leave a small blurb and rating would make it significantly more useful.
