I'll tell you the way it was explained to me several years ago. Might be true and fact might not be...Anybody share your thoughts on this please?
Thanks for your reply. No, I don't think it's going to make any difference in the playability. I was just wondering why the difference. Not a big deal with me just curious.Do you honestly think 1/4" is going to have any effect on play ability of a cue? IMO It is probably to differentiate there cue from the next, same reason so many bastard threads are used for pins on cues. Now having said that I always build my shafts a little long by 1/8" so as through the life of that shaft it can be faced off or if the ferrule is replaced you have a little material to work with. But even that is probably not necessary.
DPK thought 58 is an unlucky number.
29 1/4" shafts and 28 3/4" butt still equals 58.
The reason I thought it was done that way is because they came out with the extra long joint pin and in the 80s many cases would not hold the butt. But that is just my opinion as I never asked Laurie.
This sounds very plausible... Is the pin 1 and 1/4" long?
