Southwest Extra Rings?

I have an opportunity to buy this Southwest cue. The owner of the cue seems to think that the extra rings in the butt make this a somewhat rare cue. I have never owned a southwest and was unable to find a picture of another with extra rings while surfing the net. So here's a chance for You Southwest experts to chime in and hopefully share a little knowledge. How rare is it and in terms of value how much should it add or detract in terms of value and in term of collectibility/desireability?Thanks to all for your input in advance

Mine doesn't have them, I know people are paying more for the A and B rings. That's all I know about it.

My opinion:

I think the rings are hideous. Sorry again my opinion. I am one of those people that like all natural cues if you will, no stains or bright orange veneers. The rings on my soon to custom, is cocobolo with birdseye windows. and high polish brass for that gold look. Then again, Different strokes for different folks. (funny how well that phrase relates to pool)

Also I don't like Southwest cues. A buddy of my mine bought a southwest, the butt warped on the thing within the first 6 months of owning the cue. Granted not a severe warp. and no he didn't leave it in the sun or the car or a sauna. Southwest, wouldn't help him out, and was actually trying to charge him for it.

HOWEVER, if you like the cue the way it looks the way it PLAYS (please tell me you are going to use it and not strap it to a wall or something), I say go for it. But the best bet would be to contact Southwest I would assume, and find out more about the cue itself to verify that it is something that the guy is saying it is.

The rings don't make it any rarer. It is just a option that adds to the cost of the base cue. As for collectibility/desireability, it is the same as any other SW unless it is something like this

It seems as if SW have a 50% markup over the going retail price. They are in the $2000 to $2500 area right now. If you really like it and want it, buy it, but don't buy it because of his BS story.

I had heard that the butts are prone to warp on Southwests because they are not cored . Thank you for allyour opinions both positive and negitive. Anyone else want to add their 2 cents?
