Spanish Bull Vs Scotch Leather

I'm having a hard time deciding between the two for a custom cue I'm having made. Does anyone have experience with both. What are your thoughts. I currently play with a predator P3 with the luxe "leather" wrap and like how that feels. Any insight and photos you could provide would be appreciated.

The "luxe" wrap is a faux leather wrap, foam with a leather like surface, no real leather will ever feel like that, espcially since the Predator wrap is three times as thick as a normal wrap. But if you want a soft feeling wrap Spanish bull is very comfortable in the hand.

That's why I put leather in quotation marks 🙂

Agreed. The Spanish Bull is a very nice wrap. 😎👍

Thicker leather is much easier to find than thin leather if you visit a local leather store. Go with calipers in your hand and look for something about .070" thick you like and get them to cut you a piece the size you want. Then find a local repairman to install it. Or your local guy can apply two layers of his normal leather. Or permanently build up the wrap groove.

They both have nice textures. The Scotch texture is more uniform than the Spanish bull. If you like a glove soft feel, get the oil tanned Spanish Bull. The synthetic faux leather is great UNTIL it starts to outgas, soften and become gummy. It then starts to leave marks on your felt and clothing. Leather will last for decades.

Does anyone have photos of oil tanned Spanish Bull on a cue?

I was curious so I typed "spanish bull" into the search function in the upper right and all kinds of cues with Spanish bull wraps popped up. I don't know what kind of color combo you're looking for, but I'd suggest giving it a try to see if anything strikes your fancy.
