International Pool Tour (IPT) Launches with Biggest Guaranteed Prize Money in History of Sport
Las Vegas, July 5th 2005: The International Pool Tour (IPT), a major new ground-breaking pool organization founded by media mogul Kevin Trudeau, has officially launched with the largest guaranteed prize money in the history of pool-an unprecedented $5 million plus in its first year.

The IPT is the first organized pool tour ever with major financial clout and "heavyweight-like" prize money. The Tour launches with a series of heads-up 8-Ball Challenge matches between top players with a minimum of $100,000 to the winner. The debut 8-Ball Challenge event will take place in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 20th, 2005. The event will pit the greatest pool player of all-time, 9-time world champion Mike Sigel, against the greatest female player of all-time, 8-time World Champion Loree Jon Jones. This historical 8-Ball Challenge event will be broadcast nationally on prime-time TV and around the world and will be the most broadcast pool event in the history of the sport.

The International Pool Tour will also present a series of high-profile, televised 8-Ball tournaments featuring the best men and women pool players from around the world. These tournaments will be held in top casino/hotels in the U.S., Europe and Asia. These events will be open to men and women of all ages. All participants must be members of the IPT but there are no other restrictions. The minimum guaranteed prize money will be one million dollars, regardless of the number of players.

The International Pool Tour annual headline tournament will be the "World 8-Ball Open Championship". This tournament will have a guaranteed 3 million dollar purse with a record-breaking $500,000 to the first-place winner, by far the richest prize money in the sport's history.

All IPT prize money is guaranteed by a major international accounting firm.

IPT Founder Trudeau, who launched and owns the Golf TV Channel in the United Kingdom and who built a 2 billion dollar global business empire in television, movies, publishing and marketing, believes that the IPT will both legitimatize and energize the game of pool in the U.S. and worldwide. "This is the first time ever that a pool player can earn over one million dollars in annual prize money," said Trudeau. "The prize money available in pool to date has been an absolute joke, an embarrassment to the sport and players. Now, thanks to the guaranteed prize money and our enormous tv exposure, pool will achieve the same level of interest and excitement of other sports and games such as poker."

Trudeau, who has been called a "master of modern-day marketing" by the Wall Street Journal and whose publishing company presently includes a New York Times best-selling book, also believes that the IPT will get more people playing pool, both at home and in pool halls, around the world. He is also convinced that the IPT- and its high-profile events- will dramatically expand both the professional and amateur ranks, as well as increasing interest in amateur leagues and other existing pro tours.

The IPT, which is sponsored by Naturalcures.com and financed by Trudeau, also will attract the world's genuinely best players, who no longer have to "hustle" in order to make a living. "Because of the lack of money in pool, great players have had to hustle and thus stay anonymous," said Trudeau. "Now they can step forward out of the pool halls in every city and burb and show the world what they can do-and also make an enormous amount of money doing what they do best."

All IPT events will abide by the following rules:

All events will be 8-Ball
4 1/2 pockets
Slow nap cloths
No breaking from the side rails
Winners break
No shot clocks
No jump cues
All tournaments will be round-robin with the exception of the final match
All final matches will be a race to 9 with the best 2 out of 3 sets winning the match
Said Trudeau, "8-Ball is the game that everyone plays. The IPT also wants to ensure that luck is less of a factor in winning, which is why all our events feature rules that were intact during the golden age of pool, when people like Minnesota Fats and Moscone were playing. This is real pool with real rules and real prize money." All IPT prize money is guaranteed and not based on the number of players in any one tournament.

"For too long, pool has been notorious for promoters with big ideas and no money or execution," said BCA Hall of Famer Mike Sigel, who will play in the IPT's premiere, prime-time event in Las Vegas on August 20th. "This is the first time in pool history that a major international business figure has stepped up to promote the game and inject it with big money. I've known Kevin for over 15 years and, without question, his new pool tour will revolutionize the game immediately."

Added Sigel, who helped train Tom Cruise for his role in the movie "The Color of Money": "I think this is the biggest thing to happen to pool since Fats played Moscone on national TV's ABC Wide World of Sports with Howard Cosell commentating and everyone was talking about pool!"

Loree Jon Jones, another BCA Hall of Famer and holder of over 50 championship titles, concurs. "The IPT will no doubt create huge interest in pool and will also make it hip, fun and relevant for both players and viewers," said Jones.

 I don’t know but a man counting $500K in a room full of people?
Don’t you think there would be armed security guards walking the money down from the Vault!

I asked this in another thread too. I claimed KT was flashing money to build hype, create smoke and mirrors, and flip the business to some sucker-angel. My specific example was Reyes fondling the large bundles for the cameras, then going home empty handed. Yes indeedy --- wtf happened to THIS MONEY? Flash and dash, apparently.
