Speed joint?

I have a request for a carbon shaft for a peachauer speed joint. I cannot find a brass insert for that. Any help?

It's a regular 5/16-14 thread with about 1/3 of the threads removed and bored out to .320"

The part with no threads is .450" long, the barrel diameter is actually.422" not .420" as I first said..

Would you feel comfortable building a phenolic plug for it? Like would you build a shaft for a customer that way?

I would make a phenolic plug, glue that in with the correct epoxy for carbon fibre.
Once that has cured. I'd machine the inside of the 5/16-14 brass insert to spec. Finally I'd drill, bore, ream and thread the shaft and install the brass insert.

Joss has been doing phenolic inserts for thier 5/16x14 for years.
A better question is,
WOULD YOU, feel comfortable doing a phenolic insert with the info Kim has given you.

Update on the speed joint insert. I basically followed Kim Bye's steps and it could not have come out any better. Thanks fellas
