Wonder if anyone has had any luck finding a split die holder for a midAmerica, Cueman style tailstock. I'm looking to be able to thread a joint for a collar so maybe 3/4 16.
Thanks

They sell them on ebay and they are from China the inside diameter is 38.1 mm which is suppose to equate to 1.5 inches , which is the outside diameter of most dies. However, you will have to machine the inner diameter a little bit , with a boring bar. Other than that they work great

I have 1", 1 1/2" and 2 inch.
They all fit without boring the i.d.
I have 12 of them
I got lucky!
You evidently used them somewhere else before cue making. Only one would be necessary for cuemaking Mine only had to be bored because it was 38.1 mm and 1-1/2 wouldn't quite fit in there

A dumb question from a simple hobbyist, is this setup effective enough for threading joint collars or shaft tenons? I had always assumed I would need to do live threading for good results.
Never, a dumb question from you.
For phenolics and plastics, the split dies for metal work great.
For wood, they will work if you use them in adjustable steps. Split die.
They do sell tenon threaders for wood. A couple of different ones for 5/16x18 ferrules made out of aluminum.
I like the ones made out of brass better. They're sharper.
There is one for 5/8x11 and 5/8x18 sold by a Cue maker / cue maker supplier. Hint hint
They work great
For the 3/4x16 joint collars, i use 2 seperate split dies, already adjusted for repeatable results.
Hope this helps
