Its almost Derby City Classic time and I suggest we sponsor one of our own players to represent us in the DCC bank tournament.

Anthony Beeler, a long time AZBilliards member, finished in the money last year and has been playing great bank pool all year long. Last year he went hill/hill with SVB and only lost by one ball. I figure it will take roughly 500.00 to put him in the tournament with 1 buy back and cover his room cost.

If for some reason he cannot play he will refund the money to all of the sponsors.

I figure this would be a nice gesture for one of pool's genuinely good guys.

I am going to start by donating $100.00 towards his entry to ensure he plays again this year. Anyone else willing to pitch in is encouraged to send donations to his paypal account.

His account is anthonybartonbeeler@gmail.com

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but that name, long-time member or not, does not ring a bell. IOW, he's not someone who at least I recall participating here much -- and I fully confess I don't follow all the threads.

And, as far as I'm concerned, it's not about the finish or chances at the tournament, as much as it is supporting someone who supports however close we all get to the occasional civilized discussion here.

Personally, I'd rather see one of the guys who have made sustained and meaningful contributions to the forum on a regular basis get the nod.

Having said all that, it's just my opinion. Good luck with your campaign.
