I just moved to Springfield, MA this week. I was wondering where he best poolhalls are at. I've been to a couple of places but was not impressed at all.

I don't think there is anything decent within 60 mins of you. The Snookers place there is a bit odd last time I was there. Don't think they had 2 of the same brand table in the whole place hehe. And the Boston Billiards there is closed.

There is a place in Pittsfield

I think I was in that place once or twice, not too bad. May need to check if it's open though, rooms tend to close down.

There are nice places in Ayer and Clinton, Clinton is about an hour from you. But so it Pittsfield I think.

Breakaway in Clinton is nice because they have free pool Tue, We, Th, and have pretty good tables, although the ball sets they have are crappy, dinged up and not very clean. Billiards Cafe in Ayer is nice, but probably 1.2 hours away from Springfield. There is a Jillians in Worcester, but tables are not the best. London Billiards in Worcester, hate the attmosphere there, and they charge like they are a high-end room in NY or something. Tables are OK, layout of the palce it not too good.

Snooker has remodled and has all goldcrown. If he says snooker is not a good place he is a picket M Fer

oh fer chrissakes. Ivory Billiards, 10 minutes away in Holyoke, is a Great room! Tom & Paul are the 2nd generation owners.

about 10 Gold Crown 2's and Anniversaries, a half dozen 7 footers, all with Simonis 860, and a nice 3-cushion table. all kept in great condition, regularly re-clothed; Paul there is a fine table mechanic.

$6/hour 5p-1am most days, opens around noon Th-Sun.

it's only been a couple of months since i was to Snookers, but they had only one sad GC3 that the owner badmouths. the rest are Gandy's with slow cloth and some crappy 8 footers and none of above kept level. they Do have cheap nights, T-Th you can play all night for $5, but the owner starts making noises like you're ruining his night at 9 because he wants to close early. [!] i'd be happy to find i'm wrong, but the website shows no sign of any changes. they Do have a small (10') snooker table in the basement that you can make special arrangements to play.

Smith's in downtown Springfield has 6-8 GC's. it has a long history, but now it's too trendy and noisy for me, too many Jersey Shore douchebags.

go to Ivory -- that's where the real players hang out. hope to see you there.

Pool Table Magic in Windsor Locks is a nice room. All highway to get there and takes roughly about 25 min. Nice tables, nice owner, and nice atmosphere.

thanks, Bud, for the info on Pool Table Magic. did not know about this room. just called up there, would love to check it out tomorrow on my way to pick up my girlfriend at Bradley (it's practically on the runway!), but he's closing for Memorial Day. dayum. heckuva nice guy, though. will still find an excuse to check it out later.
