what was the change in your opinion when you changed your ss joint to an ivory one?

thank you

ss hits harder and weights more. it will the change the balance

ivory joints arent for evryone so if you never had one d sugjest you find a cue and hit some ball with one.

I agree with Dave, I am not a cuemaker but I had enough cues to know how they play and what I like myself. I like the firm, harder hit of a stainless but I don't like the forward weight and balance. I now have a couple cues with stainless joint taken down with a Ivory sleeve. I can tell the difference with just the one or the other. I am very happy with this joint style ...<<ED

The change would probably be about $50 back out of the four hundred dollar bills you hand the cuemaker for ivory joint installation and refinish. :)
Also it will hit a little softer than the stainless joint did. In most cases I would think that would be an improvement.

That is a optoin i have never thought of. it sounds like a labor intensive job. How much did you conversion set you back? Also who did it?

Thank you all for your time , it really helps a rookie in this area having you guys out there...Richard

Im sorry I just came on this thread again, I didn't have a joint conversion done. I had a few cue's built out this way from new. Leon Sly builds some of his joints like this for new cue orders, but I don't know if he will do a conversion or not as he is getting really busy now with highend cue makeing. You can shoot him a pm on here and just see what he says.<ED
