Maybe a noob question but what's the difference between a SW satin and an actual SW? Is it just the style of the cue? Do they come with certificate of authentication and SW branding on the pin?

Thanks

Satin South West cues, or another term used Pacifier cue, are genuine South West cues that are plain and made with a satin finish instead of a gloss finish. They also don't have a cactus brand or serial number on the pin except for a very few that were produced early on have just a cactus. I believe they can be authenticated.
From what I understand is that they used to offer Satin (Pacifier) South West cues for people while they were waiting for their order to come up on the long wait list.
For what it's worth I've owned a couple over the years and always liked the way they played, the certainly hit like a "South West". They are a good entry point in to seeing if South West cues are something you might like without spending $2,500-$5,000 for a trademark 6 pointer.
Hope that helps.
