How deep should the wrap channel be to change a stick to a stacked leather wrap?

You can put stack leather wrap on a cue with the standard groove for linen. The undercut only has to be .025" deep. The stack leather gets sanded down to match the undercut once it is glued on. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. It is kind of what I thought - I hadn't done one before. This question was actually from a crazy friend of mine that has an old piece of junk cue that he wanted to try putting a wrap on by himself.
