Stan Shuffet's Pool Course

Recently, I have spent a lot of time working on my game practicing by myself. Although I have shown improvement, I felt that an outside point of view would help to identify areas of my game that needed work - particularly areas that I would not be able to recognize on my own.

It was recommended to me that I try Stan Shuffet's foundation course. When I asked those who know Stan, they had nothing but good things to say about him. I was convinced, and decided to go spend a couple of days working with him.

The experience was well worth it! Stan spent at least 18 hours taking me through his course. I especially appreciated the video stroke analysis which helped me to see the good aspects of my stroke, as well as the areas that could be improved. The rest of his course was very thorough, and I was able to take with me so many useful tools that will improve my game in the future.

Once we finished, I received a humbling whipping from his 13-year old son, Landon. Stan and Landon were nice enough to give me the excuse that I was tired from the workout. I don't know, however, since that wasn't the first time that I've played while tired ;)

Anyhow, I felt the experience was worth sharing and I highly recommend this course to anyone who is looking to improve their game.

Don't feel bad. You aren't the first to get a whipping from Landon...and I doubt you'll be the last.

Stan is a great instructor. He and I have talked about possibly teaching together in the future if the opportunity presents itself.

Work on the things he showed you and I have no doubt you will be very pleased with the results.

Louis...Glad you had such a great experience with Stan. He's a great instructor, and it's terrific to see expert players seeking ways to better their game. Jeff Carter said it well, in a 15 year old BD instructional article, entitled "Returning To Form". He said, quite eloquently, and correctly; "When an intermediate- or even professional-player's game falters, the root of the problem invariably can be traced to fundamentals." Stan, like all great instructors, knows how to quickly diagnose 'root stroke problems', and offer dynamic solutions that will help a player create permanent improvements, not just 'quick fixes'. The work, however, is now up to you, Louis, to make Stan's suggestions a part of your permanent repertoire. Best of luck out on tour!:D

Louis, It was a great teaching experience!! The entire lesson proved to be very informative in a lot of ways. There was a lot of give and take and much learning occurred my way. Louis, you're a great player, student and I must add TEACHER to that as well. Thanks for opening a couple of avenues of improvement for Landon. I am looking forward to getting Landon your way for a sparring session with you and Stevie.
And.....congrats on the big win this past weekend.
Stan Shuffett.....yes, there are 2 Ts.....perhaps I will post a couple of pictures with your permission.

Stan Shuffet

Spent some time with Stan, myself. Only one way for me to describe him. A class act.

Stan, good luck in the future with your school and also a big good luck to Landon as he travels to the world amateurs.
