Stance/stroke and big boobs problem?

I'm teaching a *very* beginning player to play as discussed in another thread.

The question of teaching her the proper stance came up...

Well actually this is a problem with her as she has big boobs which get in the way if she stands at a 45 degree angle.

I didn't know what to tell her about how to stand due to this problem, so I concentrated on getting her stroke and follow through to be straight and told her to stand however she must to get the cue to go in a straight line.

So I watch her hits and what the tip/shaft is doing (making sure it is going in a straight line, has follow through, and is pointing at where she was aiming after the hit).

Any suggestions?

Don't be lookin' at her hits!

Sorry- I am actually quite interested to hear some effective ways to play around 'em, 'coz my wife has big hits too! :D

Oh boy....is this ever a setup for a lot of great posts! :D

Are you absolutely CERTAIN that her husband is OK with this arrangement of allowing her to come over to your house?

When you said, "So I watch her hits...." Was that a typo?

I, too, had to read that sentence twice...lol *dirty mind...I can't help it!* I don't have exactly her problem but I am unfortunatly an extremely portly fellow and I hadn't realized it before taking lessons but my body was getting in the way of my stroke. I was down all the way, chin on shaft, but after taking lessons we moved my head up 6 inches or so and that did a pretty decent job of clearing my body out of the way. I would try to make her more upright until there is no more, or at least minimized, impedence. However, depending on proportions (height to boob size ratio) this may not be possible. In this case some sort of binding mechanism or sports bra would be in order...lol. Hope this helps.

P.S. I think that pictures of her in her stance from all angles will "help" us to give better advice! :D :D (c8<

So is that what you're recommending...that Billy Bob has her head move up and down 6 inches or so until they get it right? :D

I would consult Karen Corr.

I don't see the problem! Might be illegal having an extra guide like that. I know I'm not playing her one handed for money, all she has to do is tuck that stick in-between those melons, bend over and stroke it using them as her front grip.

I was gonna suggest that, too. Karen must use some device(s) to flatten them a bit so they don't interfere with her stroke.

My pool buddy's ex-girlfriend has big boobs and has won the State title and Midwest title, etc. I've watched her shoot closely and noticed that she poisitions the stick on the inside of her right breast where the stick actually moves the breast over a bit. I think she uses it to steady her stick.

Man, this topic is bad tit---er I mean---tad bit too risque.

Let's not make mountains out of molehills here.

Alright, there's been enough goofing around...in all seriousness, it seems like the best solution is by standing up more erect (her that is), because you already know from experimentation that she just can't do it da udder way.
 oh well...my intentions were good

Some pointers....

Oh dear, it sounds like you might have bitten off more than you can chew with this student! but hey don't feel like a sucker. I think you should be upfront with her. Don't feel a tit about it, just get it all out in the open. If my mammary serves me correct I think there was another thread that touched on this topic?

If she wants to be the breast then she needs to start raising the bra / bar! Who know's, if she keeps her chin up she might have a chest full of large cups and jugs in a few years!

Sorry if I milked this too much, I couldn't resist :-)

PS
Keep me abreast of deveopments!

Some I have seen have a low sort of square stance with a hiked elbow so that the cue comes over their 'boobs'.

I was playing this lady in a local tournament one time and she was playing lousy! I thought I'd help her out a little, after I beat her of course. She was standing kind of caddywhompus over the cue. I told her that she wasn't going to start shooting better until she straightened her stance out a little. She got kind of mad at me and asked, "What do you want me to do with these things?" She was pointing to her two huge breasts. I didn't even notice them while we were playing. I just kind of stuttered, "Shit, I don't know!" I walked away feeling pretty stupid but at the same time, glad that I had beaten her.

Now those are the kind of moments that just don't come along that often! I can think of many interesting replies, but it might have resulting in a slap! LOL :-)

After having read the above, I can see where all your minds are at!

Since my question was quite serious, I therefore decided that this matter required some personal research on my part...

So I consulted my vast collection of billiards books and training videos. No page was left unturned.

Lo and behold, I found a training video which specifically shows an accomplished pool player giving instruction on this very subject!

The players name is Nick, and he is instructing a blonde named "Sugar". He tells her that she should first chalk the stick. Then he tells her to take the stick in her hand. Then to go down on the stick. (She then bends over the pool table.) Then he tells her to spread her legs apart. He helps her do this by reaching down and helping her move her legs into the correct position.

He then shows her how to stroke properly by reaching around her and helping her stroke the stick. The video clearly shows the stick sliding "between" her boobs at this point rather than to the side. The movie... I mean training video producers helped in this matter by having "Sugar" wear a low cut dress so viewers could see exactly where the cue stick was positioned.

After a few practice strokes, "Sugar" giggles and says "Stop that!". Then that was the end of the first pool lesson...

So I'll advise my student on the above correct method and keep you abreast of any further developments.

Oh by the way, the "training video" is called The Baltimore Bullet...

I wouldn't mind borrowing that video Bob!
