Stance

What is the proper stance? Snooker players appear to square up to the table, i.e, they look like they're feet are both pointing towards the table and on the same line instead of one being forward and the other slightly behind. Most players I watch have there feet pointing at an angle about 30 to 45 degrees away from the table. Should the right foot be on the same line as the cue?

I've seen great players having their legs split much like if you're getting strip search or something like that, and the usual left foot front right foot back.....i really don't know which is the est for me right now, that's prolly why i'm soo inconsistant with my game cause of my stance.

Cardinal,

I think stance is really important. If you're not lined up right, how are you going to shoot the shot straight? That's why I'm interested in how snooker players stand because shotmaking is critical in their game. Someone told me that Allison Fisher had to modify her stance a little when she started playing pool. And, given that the women snooker players are kicking butt in pool now, I'd like to find out how they do it so I could modify my stance to enhance my shotmaking.

yes stance is one of the most important aspects of the game....if you're not comfortable with the shot then chances are your gonna miss right....i just don't have time to practice and fix all these stuff in my game (stance, grip, mental attitude).i play like once a week really and that once a week isn't for practice, it's for a weekly tournament. That's why i just end up watching alot of pool on tv.
Cliff Thorburn certainly had to adjust abit...i see him using the close bridge comfortably not like Davis when i see him "try" to use it, looked funny really. Thorburns stance is a bit different i would think, maybe.

my stance is the most inconsistant thing i do, and i'm too lazy to adjust properly.

i think it always depends on where you are shooting the ball...but most of the time...my left foot is in front and my right is slightly behind...
