stapeling rails

This forum has kinda died after some recent thread deletions and bickering about how much table mechanics should give away. sooooooo....i thought i'd ask a question and see if we can liven things up a bit. where does the majority of you start when recovering rails. I recently did some practice on old rails and I started in the middle and then worked my way to each end. I've read some how-to's where they say to start at the ends and work your way in to the middle. so just wondering if its just a personal preference or what?

there's a very detailed instructions, by the best, a few months ago.

i'm not looking for instructions. I was just curious if everybody pretty much does it the same way or if its just a personal preference whether to start in the middle and work out, or start on ends and work in.

Good luck getting this answered....:sorry:

Well, I'm no "pro-mechanic" but I did recover my rails and I found that it's easier to start at one end first....and also much easier to start with the corner pocket when doing the rails with the corner and side pocket sides. The cloth didn't seem to bunch up so much this way.

I'm sure others will do it their way but this was the way I did mine and they turned out very good.

However, I will say that my rails were off a Valley bar box and so it doesn't have the feather strip like other tables.....I just had to staple all of it.
