Starting Cues - Brands & Dealers?

...I hope you luck up and find what you like the first time, because it can become expensive.. ;)

Well that's the point in getting cheap comparison cues - a lot of the suggestions sound like their missing my point.

If I get a set of house cues at 13mm, medium, 18-21 oz, that should give me the variety to try out the different weights.

If I then get a 12mm medium and a 13mm soft, then I'm thinking that should give introduce me the variety from different tips (leaving out jump/break). In this case I want the cues almost the same to reduce the variables when comparing.

In the mean time - I have maybe $300 invested in 6 house cues, that my wife and sons can also try - the point is exploring the variation in cues.

Getting a lot of good info on this thread, but wanted to explain my purpose a little better... :)
